Valerio Cosimo Romano (Bari, 1986) is Adjunct Professor of Principles of Civil Law at LUISS Guido Carli and of Competition Law at LUMSA. He practices law at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP.
Valerio holds a Laurea Magistrale in Giurisprudenza from LUMSA (with full marks and honours), an LL.M. from the University of Hamburg (Germany), an LL.M. from the University of Rotterdam (the Netherlands), a M.A. from the University of Gent (Belgium) and a Ph.D. in Law and Economics from LUISS Guido Carli (Italy).
Valerio spent a year as Visiting Researcher at Harvard Law School (USA) and two years as Research Fellow at Stanford Law School (USA).
In parallel to his academic engagements, Valerio has also developed a professional career in law. Before joining his current firm, NYC-based Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP, he has been an associate at the UK-based law firm Allen & Overy LLP, for which he has been listed in Chambers Europe 2016 as “notable practitioner” and “key contact” of the Antitrust department in Italy. In 2017, his team won the TMT Law Firm of the Year Award at the Legalcommunity Awards in Milan.
