Course Formative Objectives

To provide students with a knowledge of Information and Communication Technologies applied to the law.
By the end of the course, the student should be able to reach two aims:

  • the use of new IT technologies in legal professions and activities.
  • the capability to better comprehend and critically analyse the legal implications of technologies applied in digitization of private activities and professions, as well as of public administrations and political institutions.

  • Computers, digital data, algorithms, software
  • Legal information retrieval, databases, electronic legal documents structuring and management
  • Information networks, the Internet, Semantic Web
  • Artificial intelligence, legal reasoning and legal decision support systems
  • ICT in Public Administration, electronic document and digital signature
  • Internet, data protection and privacy
  • Introduction to main legal issues related to IT technologies
