This course is designed to introduce students to the basic concepts and tools of statistics and enable them to relate these to real life problems.

Topics include

• descriptive statistics: tables, graphs and summary statistics, dependence analysis.
• probability calculus: events and random variables.
• statistical inference: point estimation, confidence intervals and testing.
