Born in Naples in 1959
Degree (cum laude) in Electrical Engeneering in 1982 from University of Naples and MBA from the American University of Washington, D.C.
Riccardo joined Clessidra Sgr – the leading Italian Private Equity Sponsor – in December 2008 as Senior Partner and a Board Member of the Company and has since then significantly contributed to the investment strategy and portfolio management of the Clessidra Capital Funds. He left Clessidra Sgr in February 2017 to pursue other professional interests.
During this period he has served as Board member in a number of companies such as Harmont&Blaine (Deputy Chairman), Pirelli (Executive Board Member), Camfin (Executive Chairman), Lauro 61 and Lauro 54 (Executive Chairman of bidco and holdco companies which launched the Public Tender Offer on Camfin), CIN-Tirrenia (Executive Board member), Isituto Centrale Banche Popolari-ICBPI (Executive Board member), Cartasi (Executive Board member), Lauro 42 (Exsecutive Chairman of the investment company holding Clessidra equity interest in Anima Sgr).
Before Clessidra, from 2000 till 2008, he served as Managing Director at Deutsche Bank Spa and Member of the European Corporate Finance Management Committee as Country Head Responsible for Corporate and Investment Banking in Italy; during the period has been Central Director for Deutsche bank Spa , Member of the management Board of Deutsche Bank AG Milan Branch and Board Member of REEF Opportunities Management , Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Deutsche Bank SIM and of Deutsche Bank Capital Markets and Deputy Chairman of Charme Investments SA. During this period, he played a crucial role in many relevant landmark Italian transactions (hostile takeover of Montedison, Fiat restructuring and equity and debt refinancing , Ferrari value creation initiatives, Bmps Axa strategic alliance in the Insurance sector, Piaggio Ipo, Barilla acquisition inContinental Europe, Enel M&A strategic moves in Russia and Spain, Wind Leveraged Buyout, Financial restructuring and equity refinancing/privatization of Alitalia, Enel Real Estate disposal).
Prior to Deutsche Bank, Riccardo was Deputy Chief Executive Officer at Cofiri Group for ten years (1990-2000) leading the Group activities in the field of Capital Markets, Corporate Finance, Private Equity, Leasing & Factoring actively participating in the implementation of major restructuring and privatization operations undertaken by IRI Group.
In this period he has served as Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and/or Board Member on the Board of many Group entities such as Cofiri SIM,Cofiri Factor&Leasing, Cofiri International, Cofiri Invest, Cofiri Sovis, SASA Assicurazioni, SASA Vita, GI GEST sgr, ADR Holding, SPI, Meridiana Finanza.
Riccardo started his career in Banca Nazionale del Lavoro (1985-2000) where he had the Capital Market & Corporate Finance responsibility for five years.
He is member of the European Banking Report Advisory Board founded by the Italian Banking Association and has been Visiting Professor at Luiss – Management School for ten years.
